Quantification and Reporting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Removals at the Organization Level
ISO 14064-1 details principles and requirements for designing, developing, managing and reporting organization-level GHG inventories.
It includes requirements for determining GHG emission and removal boundaries, quantifying an organization’s GHG emissions and removals, and identifying specific company actions or activities aimed at improving GHG management.
It also includes requirements and guidance on inventory quality management, reporting, internal auditing and the organization’s responsibilities in verification activities.
The ISO 14064-1:2018 is a part of the ISO 14064 series of standards that focuses on the quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals at the organization level.
It specifies principles and requirements at the organization level for the quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals. It includes requirements for the design, development, management, reporting, and verification of an organization’s GHG inventory.
The key principles of ISO 14064-1 include transparency, accuracy, consistency, comparability, and completeness in inventory management and reporting.
The ISO 14064 series is GHG programme neutral. If a GHG programme is applicable, requirements of that GHG programme are additional to the requirements of the ISO 14064 series.
This standard provides a clear framework for quantifying and reporting GHG emissions at the organization level, facilitating effective emissions management and contributing towards carbon neutrality.
This standard is reviewed every 5 years, and the latest edition was published in December 2018.
It’s important to note that the application of this standard can contribute to achieving sustainable development goals.
