Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation

Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation CORSIA. It’s a global initiative developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to address the impact of aviation on climate change. CORSIA is a significant initiative to address aviation’s environmental impact and promote a more sustainable future for air travel.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has a dedicated web page that provides up-to-date information on various impacts of the ongoing situation on the implementation of CORSIA. The ICAO also provides an overview of CORSIA implementation in the Region. The ICAO has developed model regulations to assist States with the establishment of CORSIA regulatory systems. The ICAO has introduced the Assistance Capacity-building and Training on CORSIA (ACT-CORSIA) initiative. The ICAO has a document entitled, “CORSIA Central Registry (CCR): Information and Data for Transparency” which contains the list of Verification Bodies accredited in States under CORSIA. The ICAO has a document entitled, “CORSIA States for Chapter 3 State Pairs”.

The ICAO has developed a tool called CORSIA CO₂ Estimation and Reporting Tool (CERT) to estimate CO₂ emissions for aeroplane operators. The ICAO provides information on CORSIA Eligible Fuels. The ICAO provides a guide for CORSIA Focal Points and other stakeholders. The ICAO provides a list of all States that intend to voluntarily participate in the CORSIA from its outset. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) provides information on CORSIA in their January 2024 handbook.
